Batch Your Baking

This is the simplest and most effective way to reduce oven energy use. Instead of baking one tray at a time throughout the day, batch your baking so you're running the oven at full capacity for shorter periods.

An oven uses the most energy when it's heating up from room temperature. Once it's at baking temperature, it uses less energy to maintain that temperature. So if you can bake 10 trays in one 3-hour session instead of 2 trays in five 1-hour sessions, you'll use significantly less energy.
