Local sourcing reduces transportation emissions (food miles), supports local economy, and ensures freshness. Many customers specifically seek out bakeries that use local ingredients.
  • Visit farms and producers: Build relationships with local farmers and producers. Visit their farms, understand their practices, and tell their stories to your customers. Transparency builds trust and authenticity.
  • Seasonal menu: Design menus around seasonal, locally available ingredients. Seasonal ingredients are fresher, more flavorful, and have a lower environmental impact (no long-distance transportation or greenhouse production). Feature seasonal specials to highlight local ingredients.
